Weidmüller implements Sharedien DAM with Advellence

Weidmüller has modernised its Digital Asset Management landscape and, together with Advellence, implemented Sharedien as a cloud-based and AI-powered DAM solution.

The project was initiated to replace an existing on-premise DAM system that no longer met the company’s requirements in terms of performance, scalability and end-to-end media flows. The previous architecture consisted of separate areas for internal and external access, which led to media breaks, additional manual work and delays in making assets available.

Within just five months, the legacy system was replaced and Sharedien was implemented as the central platform for managing and providing digital assets. Around 250,000 assets were migrated – approximately half from the previous DAM system and half from the PLM system.

Today, an API interface supplies around 70,000 products with up-to-date product and media data in live operation. A granular data model makes it possible to automatically assign the right images, datasheets and CAD files to each product variant and make them available for the relevant channels.

With Sharedien, Weidmüller now has a scalable, cloud-native platform that optimises internal processes, simplifies media flows and opens up new opportunities for automation and data quality.
