Huhtamaki’s Journey Toward a Global Single Source of Truth

In 2024, Huhtamaki began implementing its vision of a comprehensive master data management landscape. The global corporation, with 17,400 employees, selected Syndigo as its multi-domain master data management system and at the same time started building a true data governance organization. Together, these initiatives are laying the foundation for a global Golden Record and efficient, sustainable data processes.

Today, Huhtamaki runs approximately 35 ERP instances with 20 different technologies as a result of several acquisitions. This landscape will be reduced to a handful of ERP instances. ERP data is transferred into an Azure-based data lake, harmonized there and loaded into Syndigo, which manages all domains and returns the refined data. This forms the basis for a 360° view of business processes and data.

The implementation runs domain by domain: having established the location domain, Huhtamaki is now advancing the customer domain. Further domains such as assets, products and materials, and global reference data will be added step by step. At the same time, an internal people network is taking responsibility for data quality, data maintenance, and local data processes.
