Beiersdorf AG was founded in Hamburg in 1882 by the pharmacist Paul C. Beiersdorf. By establishing the skin care brands NIVEA, Eucerin, Hansaplast, La Prairie, and Labello, Beiersdorf developed into a highly successful global consumer goods company over the course of its approximately 140-year history. Today Beiersdorf has more than 170 international companies - NIVEA products are sold in around 200 countries, making the brand one of the world's largest and most successful skin care brands. Since 2001, tesa SE has also been part of Beiersdorf as an independently managed subgroup.
In 2014, the decision was made to introduce a PIM system as the technological basis for the country-specific NIVEA websites, and thus for the first time a solution for product data management. The PIM was gradually rolled out for the other
brands as well, and the digital value chain was further developed in line with the changing requirements in e-commerce.
